Assistive Technology can described by McKechnie & Guralnik (1979) as the broad range of devices and services that are conceived and applied to ameliorate the difficulties that individuals face who have impairments/ any product or piece of equipment that is modified or customized that is used to improve the functional capacities of individuals with impairments.
One piece of assistive equipment we were shown was an item that allows individuals who are unable to use c computer mouse. It was in the shape of a large spherical ball. It was about the sice ao a tennis ball and was able to be used by the whole hand of the individual. It was designed to promote independence in computer usage.
This version of the assistive technology was approximately $400.
